San Francisco police arrested a man who allegedly ran on the BART tracks between the Glen Park and Balboa Park stations following what authorities believe might have been a suicide attempt, a BART spokesman said.
He was taken to a local hospital for observation because he might have jumped onto the tracks in an attempt to kill himself, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
The man was observed on the tracks shortly before 9 a.m., Allison said, and was seen running away from the Glen Park station toward Balboa Park.
Power to the tracks between the two stations was shut down for roughly 40 minutes while police searched for the man. He was not initially found, and trains began running between the stations again just after 9:40 a.m., Allison said.
San Francisco police eventually spotted the man and took him into custody at about 10:40 a.m., according to Allison.
