Hi ho from the Richmond,

Ok, so we’re 64 days into the BP oil spill with no end in sight. I know I’m frustrated, how about you? One San Francisco taxi driver is channeling his frustration into an event he’s calling “Slash Oil”. Imagine 2000 people at Ocean Beach on Saturday, laying down to spell out the words “Slash Oil” while a helicopter hovers overhead, snapping photos. Find out how to be a part of it.

In the hopes that one day we won’t need to drill for oil anymore, SF Environment is holding a Green Energy Fair in Golden Gate Park on Saturday. Get the low down on solar, wind, and energy saving improvements, plus info on the city’s green financing program for residents. The best part? Solar water heating TOURS. You heard it here first.

Last week, the Academy of Sciences kicked off their first ever overnight for kids and their chaperones, affectionately known as “Penguins + Pajamas”. It was a great night for kids and their adults to explore, learn and have fun with the wild and science at the Academy. Check out the pics and see why you MUST take your kids to one of the remaining overnights this summer.

This weekend kicks off the first big concert of the season. 97.3 Alice Radio is putting on their free Summerthing concert in Speedway Meadow on Sunday. I like this one because they don’t overdo it – there’s just three bands on the bill: Lifehouse, Kris Allen of American Idol fame, and the London-based One eskimo.

For the cinema buffs out there, the acclaimed Chinese film “The Message” opens at the 4-Star Theater on Friday.”it’s an exhilarating, intensely cinematic ride” says Variety magazine.

Have a great weekend everyone!
