A man who was shot in the head in the Bayview-Hunters Point District this morning has been identified by the San Francisco medical examiner’s office as 29-year-old Lacey Edwards.

The call came in at about 3:10 a.m. for a shooting at West Point and Middle Point roads, San Francisco police Officer Samson Chan said.

The shooting happened in an area where there is a lot of criminal and gang activity, according to Chan.

Edwards, who lived in San Francisco, was pronounced dead at the intersection, he said.
Another person was also shot in the same neighborhood this morning. A male victim was shot at Third Street and Evans Avenue.

The victim was shot at a gas station and taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening, Chan said. He said that shooting was reported before 4 a.m.

It’s sad the number of young folks getting killed in the Bayview. Our house borders this this area and is not far from 3rd street. What I don’t see is a consistent police presence. Some days, they’re all over the heart of 3rd. Others you can’t find one to save a life. What happened to Gavin’s promise to make it a safer place to live?????? How about a more consistent police presence and not just during the day time….. and how about this…don’t give me a ticket for rolling through a stop sign when people are getting thrown off MUNI platforms at 3rd and Revere/Palou being beaten to death and robbed.
