BikeLane.jpgThe man charged with trying to kill 4 bicycle riders last week is expected to make his first appearance in court tomorrow, to face charges and, some hope, shed some light on what motivated the attacks.

According Erica Derryck, spokesperson for the DA’s office, David Mark Clark, the 39-year-old Albany man described in the Chronicle as an avid bicyclist, will be arraigned on 4 counts of attempted murder, 4 counts of assault with a deadly weapon (his car), and three counts of battery causing serious bodily injury tomorrow.

He’s the guy accused of ramming 4 cyclists with his SUV last week, after which he went to the Albany Police Department and reported his vehicle had been stolen in a carjacking in San Francisco.

As NBC Bay Area notes, police still aren’t saying what might have caused Clark to go after these particular, or any cyclists, in the first place. SFGate commenters sure do have their theories, though!

According to sheriff’s department spokeswoman Eileen Hirst, Clark is being held under observation at the county jail’s psychiatric unit.
