Bike_Lane.jpgA bicyclist was struck by a car and injured early this afternoon in San Francisco’s Panhandle, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 12:48 p.m. at the intersection of Fell Street and Masonic Avenue, according to police. The driver stopped at the scene.

According to fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge, the male bicyclist in his early 20s was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with minor injuries.

The person who reported the incident said, “They need to do something with this light, there’s an accident there every day,” according to Talmadge.

The intersection has been the site of other crashes and close calls. In 2008, it became the first in the city to have a traffic signal installed specifically for bicyclists and pedestrians.

On Jan. 24, there was a vehicle accident at the intersection in which an occupant was ejected, and on Feb. 13, a bicyclist was hit there but not injured, Talmadge said.
