Bike_Lane.jpgThousands of Bay Area residents are expected to participate in this year’s Bike to Work Day on Thursday, according to event officials.

This year’s event will also celebrate San Francisco’s first fully-separated, green bike lane on Market Street as well as other additions to city streets.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will host 27 morning and afternoon energizer stations with free food and fair trade coffee. The coalition also will distributable bicycle information in neighborhoods across San Francisco for commuters on bikes.

At 8:30 a.m., city leaders and bicyclists will converge on the steps of San Francisco City Hall to rally for a full Market Street bikeway.

The day will end with a Bike Away from Work Party and Fashion Show from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Rickshaw Stop at 155 Fell St.
