The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will begin work Monday replacing Muni station fare gates, emergency swing gates and ticket vending machines with new ones.

The $20 million project at all nine Muni metro stations is expected to be completed later this year, according to Muni spokesman Murray Bond.

The project will be paid for using federal stimulus money, Bond said.

Work will begin Monday at the downtown Montgomery Station and continue through Friday.
