I had lunch at the Metreon (Friday), and the flags in front of Moscone Center were flying at half-mast. Any idea why?
And before you send me to lmgtfy.com, I tried Googling already. 🙂 I’m guessing either the China earthquake or the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynsk, but neither the Mayor’s press releases nor whitehouse.gov make any mention of flying the flags at half-mast in response to either event.
According to Moscone Center security, the flags are at half-mast to honor the 29 miners who died during last week’s deadly mine explosion in Virginia.
