The Sac Bee reported that former mixed martial arts champ Eric Clawson, a San Francisco man, was convicted of a hate crime after punching a black man named Carl Whitfield “in the face in a Chico bar and knocking him unconscious after uttering racial slurs.”

Find the racist!

According to the AP, the 28 year old Clawson, who in his fighting prime weighed in at 205 lbs, “entered Riley’s Bar & Grill with a friend, saw Whitfield sitting at the bar and said, ‘I’m not siting here with that n-.’ Later, witnesses said, Clawson told the bartender not to give him any of ‘that n- booze.'” Shortly thereafter, Clawson punched Whitfield in the face, knocking him unconscious.

One has to wonder (how Carrie Bradshaw do I sound right now?), how do you make a career in MMA if you’re uncomfortable around people of color? Hot tip: there are a lot of black folks in combat sports! I’m not saying that that means there’s no racism, but you’d think the average racist MMA guy might have learned to keep his klanny leanings on the DL.

According to the Bee, Clawson disagreed that he was being racist, saying “he was not describing Whitfield but meant it as a euphemism for ‘cheap.'” OH NEVER MIND THEN. Also: are you sure you are not thinking of the Jewish people? We are the ones who are typically thought of a cheap. I believe that this is what the Youngs might refer to as a “racism fail.”
