7:02 AM: KTVU is reporting that two Muni trains have collided with one another at San Jose and Highland, and that the injuries from the accident required three paramedic vehicles. More details when we have them.

7:07 AM: MTA spokesperson Judson True’s sent a media alert, saying that at 6:24, a inbound (towards downtown) J Church Muni Metro reportedly struck an inbound F Market on the San Jose Avenue right-of-way near Highland (apparently, the F Market uses the J tracks to begin its run).

True says there are 3 reported injuries, none of which are life threatening: the F Market driver (the F was reportedly unoccupied otherwise) and 2 adult, female passengers from the J have been hospitalized.

True says shuttle buses are serving passengers between San Jose/30th Ave. and Balboa Park.

7:22 AM: True has clarified that the J Church rear ended the F Market historic streetcar (solely occupied by its driver), but at this point the MTA does not know the cause of the accident.

9:06 AM: True has sent out another alert to the media, saying that regular J Church service resumed at 8:35 this morning. He also reports that the SFFD is saying that there were 5 injured in the accident, not 3 — 3 were hospitalized, 2 more were treated at the scene.
