A 19-year-old unlicensed driver fled from police today in San Francisco’s Oceanview neighborhood, crashing into two cars and injuring two people before crashing a third time and being taken into custody.

Officers attempted to pull over a Pontiac Grand Prix on Sadowa Street at about 11 a.m. but the driver sped away, police spokesman Officer Samson Chan said.

He drove up onto a sidewalk and hit a parked car in the area of Sadowa Street and Orizaba Avenue, then continued on and crashed into a moving car at Orizaba Avenue and Sagamore Street.

The driver then turned right onto Brotherhood Way but almost immediately crashed into a center median near Arch Street and was taken into custody.

Chan said the chase lasted less than a minute. The spot where the driver crashed is a few blocks from where officers first tried to pull him over.

The car that was struck at Orizaba Avenue and Sagamore Street contained three women and a 2-year-old child. Two of the women were injured and were taken to the hospital along with the child, San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.

“The child checked out OK but the child went with the mother,” Talmadge said.

The driver who fled has been arrested for felony hit-and-run and driving without a license, Chan said. Police have not released his name.

He was also injured but his wounds were not considered life-threatening.
