The California Highway Patrol has issued a Sig-alert for severe flooding on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco this morning, an officer said.

Flooding was first reported on southbound Highway 101 south of Paul Avenue at around 5:30 a.m., CHP Officer Kevin Kroncke said.

A pool of water approximately six to 12 inches deep is blocking the two left lanes of the highway, which have had to be shut down.

The Department of Transportation has been called to the scene to try to clear the roadway, Kroncke said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 6:30 a.m.
