Big name Athol Fugard opens his new play at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre tomorrow evening. Directed by Gordon Edelstein, Coming Home promises to be a “sober reckoning,” as Fugard put it.
The playwright investigates the hardships of his South Africa in the story of Veronica’s return home. There is a glimmer of hope to be had, but for the most part, Berkeley Rep has a serious drama from a prolific and political dramatist on its stage.
