JamBase is genre agnostic.

For more than ten years, JamBase has been enabling relationships and clean data exchanges between bands, venues, promoters, labels and music fans, with an API handling requests from over 40 million lovers of live music.

JamBase  settled in San Francisco 10  years ago, where it has thrived ever since – exposing one clear mission: Go See Live Music. That’s it. It’s the most.fun.task.ever!

And of course, the story of JamBase is as lovely as the founders’ passion for music.

Ted Kartzman’s roots in the music business began in 1998 when he and Andy Gadiel founded JamBase, a web site dedicated to providing musicians and their fans with a grassroots community for finding artists on tour. As President of JamBase, Ted grew business & key contacts through band/venue/promoter/label relationships.

After managing The Slip through a tour in the USA and Japan, he moved on to a role as Director of Independent Label Business at Rhapsody. While there, he oversaw the ingestion, promotion, and legal contract processes for the five million songs from thousands of independent labels available through Rhapsody while managing more than 400 independent label and artist partnerships.

Ted knows everyone. And Ted loves going to see live music.

So it wasn’t shocking, though it was awesome, that while Ted was at Rhapsody, he developed a series of corporate sponsored live performance events (6 “Rhapsody Rocks” shows), recording and capturing exclusive live audio/video content in a private party setting, then selling the audio through Rhapsody.

Since 2008, he’s been a proud member of the IODA team as Vice President of Client Services. Get to know him and you’ll quickly find he takes pride in managing unique client perspectives and a thorough understanding of IODA’s services. Ted also proudly sits as Chairman of the Board at SF-based boutique digital distributor, reapandsow.

As the inspiration for the grassroots music hashtag “rockingto” on twitter, (started by @andygadiel) he is one of the bay area’s biggest live music supporters – when he is in town he attends multiple shows on a weekly basis.

If you go to a few shows in town, you’ll likely see Ted. Go say hi. If you tell him your name, he will remember it. Let me know if I’m wrong, or attempt to prove me so. Dare ya.
