It’s the SF Zoo’s adorable baby gorilla, Hasani’s first birthday, today, after a rough first year in which his birth mother ignored him and he was placed with a surrogate family. The Examiner’s Katie Worth reports that Hasani will celebrate with an “ice cake” (you and everybody else in the Bay Area, kid!) which ABC7 reports was “filled with treats.”

We’re going to take this opportunity to try to warm the ice cake of your heart by directing you to this photo gallery and primitive attempt at video from Hasani’s first public appearance with his new family, back in June. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS BABY GORILLA.
