5:28 PM: A 24-year-old man living in San Francisco on a visa from France was injured after being struck by a bus while on a bicycle in the Richmond District this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported at 7:34 a.m. on California Street between 23rd and 24th avenues, CHP Officer Chris Rardin said.

A bus carrying six autistic children was passing Tony Felix Gallard, the bicyclist, when the right side view mirror of the bus clipped him, causing him to fall from his bike, Rardin said.

Gallard suffered a fractured right clavicle and laceration to his head. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries, according to Rardin.

The driver of the bus, Ronald Lui, 30, of Pacifica, stopped at the scene of the crash and cooperated with authorities, Rardin said. No students on the bus were injured.

San Francisco police are not handling the investigation of the incident because any crash involving a school bus is the jurisdiction of the CHP.
