KCBS reports (WARNING: Audio autoplay) that the daily, overnight lane closures to complete eyebar repairs on the Eastern span of the Bay Bridge could conclude by the end of the year.
Caltrans spokesperson Bart Ney says “An amazing amount of work was done over the weekend, as a matter of fact we have completed the installation of the eyebar and stressed it, returned the weight of the bridge to it.”
Caltrans says the only work left to do is to remove the support work that was keeping the broken bits from falling down and killing us all.
We’ll keep you posted on exactly when the Bridge will be back in full, 24-7 operation — until then, the three left lanes on the westbound upper deck of the Bay Bridge to be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday nights and from 11:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday nights. In addition, the far right lane of the eastbound lower deck of the span will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday nights, from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday nights and from 11:30 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday nights.
