Did you know San Francisco had a mime troupe? Me neither! Even more surprising (or perhaps not surprising at all) is that the troupe is turning 50 years old this week. To celebrate, there will be live music and cocktails at YBCA followed by the troupe’s performance of Ghosts, a satire piece originally created to commemorate the opening of the Moscone Center. I’d ask them what ghosts have to do with the opening of a Mega-Mall Conference Center, but they’re not speaking to me.

What: SF Mime Troupe 50th Anniversary Birthday Bash
When: Thursday, December 10th, 7:30 – 11:30 p.m.
Where: Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (3rd st and Mission)
Cost: FREE, but RSVP via email to: sfmt@ybca.org is recommended.
Website: YBCA.org

The SF Mime Troupe is *not* a mime troupe. They’re just called that. It’s some sort of ironic name or something.

Quiet, you! I can’t hear the mimes! Besides, everyone knows there’s no such thing as irony in San Francisco.

Thanks for the tip though, we’ll be doing a wrap-up after tomorrow’s event so maybe I’ll learn something else new.
