The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider a $650,000 settlement to the family of a woman killed by a falling tree branch at Stern Grove in 2008.

On April 14, 2008, Kathleen Bolton, 50, of San Francisco, had been walking her dog in the area and was returning to her car when a large limb from a redwood tree snapped off and struck her and the car.

Bolton’s parents later sued the city, alleging negligence in inspecting and maintaining the city-owned tree.

The board will vote on the proposed settlement at its regular meeting Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.
