snowflakelede.jpgSan Francisco’s Market Street will be lit up Thursday evening with a procession of luminescent snowflakes initiating the holiday shopping season.

The second annual event, organized by the Market Street Association and sponsored by local businesses, will feature 116 giant LED snowflakes on 58 lampposts from Montgomery Street to Sixth Street, lighting the “Path of Gold.”

The poles will stay lit through mid-January.

A lighting ceremony with city officials is planned for 6:30 p.m. at the cable car turn-around at Powell and Market streets.
