BayBridgeInfo: The Bay Bridge’s twitter feed’s last update was “Bay Bridge closure/repair updates coming around 5 pm, stay tuned.” OK! Ready! Oh, here it is: “Works crews are still working on the repair, similar to repair durin Labor Day.” Kind of a letdown, that.

BARTMusings, via Eye on Blogs: BART over-crowded due to Bay Bridge shut down– my nightmare commute today Orinda BART parking was full, and the BART train was crowded!

Sexpigeon: Just go see it. Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!

NYT Bay Area Blog: Imagine the Bay Bridge’s Eastern Span as a Park speaks of something called a “multimedia website” created by UC Berkeley J-School, which is funny because don’t a couple of UCB students write for that blog? “Ignore the events of the past 24 hours for a minute and take a look.” The blog says in an effort to draw readers to this “multimedia website.” Nope, sorry, too busy jerking off. Oh, wait! That’s YOU.

And there’s one of those UC Berkeley J-School kids now, writing Bay Bridge: What Happened? They talk to three engineers, two of which work for, SAY IT WITH ME, UC Berkeley. NY Times: Please change name of this blog from Bay Area Blog to UC Berkeley Blog. Thank you!

Chron: Bridge parts couldn’t take the wind begins with a bang: “High winds caused a steel crossbeam and two steel tie rods to snap off the Bay Bridge’s eastern span and fall to the upper deck, Caltrans officials said today.” Following are several quotes from Caltrans and Bridge construction contractors explaining why this makes sense. IT IS WIND. They think they’ll be done with repairs by noon Thursday, at least until the next windy day! HAHA this is actually not funny.

KCBS: Is BART Too Complicated for New Users? “some people are downright scared. They don’t know how much money they need, or what stop to get off on.” It is asking a lot of BART to expect it to cure stupid.

Caltrans Losing Thousands in Tolls “The span collects more than $500,000 in tolls, most through FasTrak in a 24 hour period.” Which means that the bridge is on track to lose more than the Chronicle this week!

CBS5: Wind Blamed For Bridge Failure, Slows Fix Oh, this is interesting: “Federal Highway Administration spokeswoman Nancy Singer said the agency did not inspect the original Labor Day weekend repairs, relying only on state inspection reports.” So that’s why “Federal officials sent investigators to look into the previous bridge repair that failed Tuesday evening.” More on how high winds are slowing down repair work.

ABC7: Live Bay Bridge Video Very I Am Legend.

And, of course, our coverage, which the NYT Berkeley J-School Blog should feel free to rip on (any link is a good link!)
