Previously: SFPD Investigating Fatal Excelsior Stabbing

2:47 PM: San Francisco police this afternoon released a description of a man wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing Monday night in the city’s Excelsior neighborhood.

The victim was stabbed at about 7:40 p.m. in front of a home in the 300 block of Athens Street, police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

The medical examiner’s office today identified him as 49-year-old Eric Bushman.

Bushman had been unloading his car when another man began talking with him and then stabbed him, police said.

Bushman, a San Francisco resident, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the medical examiner’s office.
No arrests were made.

Williams said the suspect was described as a “chubby” Hispanic man, 20 to 25 years old, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

He was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants, and was last seen running north on Athens Street and then west on Excelsior Avenue, Williams said.

Police are still investigating the motive for the stabbing, which is the city’s 39th homicide this year.
