10/20 7:45 AM: Police have located a 31-year-old man with Down syndrome who went missing from his special education school Monday.

Chapis Zarate had disappeared from his school at Market and Kearny streets but was found safe at about midnight, police Sgt. Lyn Tomioka said.

She did not have information on where he was located.

10/19 10:42 PM: San Francisco police tonight are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 31-year-old man who has Down syndrome.

Chapis Zarate, who has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, was last seen earlier today at his special education school at Market and Kearny streets, police said.

He is described as a Hispanic man, standing 5 feet 2 inches and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes and carrying a small black and gray bag.

Anyone with information regarding Zarate’s whereabouts is asked to call police at (415) 553-1071 or (415) 558-5508.
