The 17th annual San Francisco celebrity pool toss to benefit kids and families in the city’s Tenderloin district will be held tonight at the Phoenix Hotel and Bambuddha Lounge.

The proceeds of the event will be donated to the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Council’s after-school program and other support services, according to event organizers.

Dozens of local personalities have volunteered to be tossed in the pool for the cause, including John Goodman, president of the San Francisco Symphony; Patricia Breslin, executive director of the Hotel Council of San Francisco; Steven Vettel, partner at Farella Braun & Martel; and Gwenyth J. Borden, member of the San Francisco Planning Commission.

The masters of ceremonies will include San Francisco 49ers tight end Brian Jennings and local print and TV journalists.

Cast member Vicki Noon will perform “The Wizard and I” from Wicked, and members of South Pacific’s cast will perform a song from that production as well.

The celebrity pool toss has raised $2.5 million for the TNDC’s after-school program and other support services since it was first held in 1992, according to event organizers.

The group’s mission is to provide safe, affordable housing for low-income Tenderloin residents, and to make the neighborhood a better place to live.

Tonight’s event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $125 each and sponsorships start at $500.
