Leah Garchik’s column from today was a treasure trove of information! First, we marveled at DA Harris’ book release party (to which we were not invited!), and, now, what’s this?

ABC plans to promote its sci-fi miniseries “V” by sending skywriters to write “V” in red around famous landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge. In response to a constituent concerned about the environmental and visual impact of this, Supervisor Bevan Dufty has fired off letters to the city, the bridge authority and the FAA.

Supe Dufty’s seemingly on a one-man push to support the flagging USPS — between his letter to Whole Foods head John Mackey and these three missives, he’s already beat this correspondent’s Wedding Thank You Note Extravaganza Of 2006.

What say you? Does V mark the spot of environmental doom, or do you welcome our skywriting lizard overlords?
