A car that was found burning this morning in San Francisco’s Richmond District is believed to have been lit on fire intentionally, a fire department spokeswoman said.

However, investigators do not believe the apparent arson is related to a series of car fires that burned throughout the city in July, fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.

Talmadge said firefighters received a report at about 5 a.m. today of a silver Toyota on fire near the intersection of Anza Street and 33rd Avenue.

Talmadge declined to give details on the method used to start this morning’s fire.
