Seven people have been displaced after firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in San Francisco’s Bayview district Sunday night, the fire department said.

The Red Cross is assisting an adult and six children who had to leave their apartment at #1 Whitfield Court after the ground floor caught on fire, according to San Francisco fire Lt. Jennifer Mathews.

The fire was reported at 11:23 p.m. Sunday and under control by 11:45 p.m., Mathews said. It was called as a two-alarm as a precaution but was canceled.

The cause was still under investigation, she said, and an estimate of the damage was not available.
