Update: OK, I just watched it (well, “watched.” I had it on while I was working.) and man on man that was bad. Was there room for another cliche in there? I do not think so. This makes me sad! I so wanted to like this show!
As we noted yesterday, San Francisco-set (and actually shot!) paramedics and cops show Trauma premiered last night
Advance word was not great: reading Tim Goodman’s review yesterday, you could feel him straining for something nice to say, like “It’s almost – but not quite – enough to be considered a post-work popcorn-type series where you check your brain on the side table and watch stuff blow up…” before he realizes there’s just no point and continues “Except that the relationships and dialogue will at some point make you scream, with or without your brain.”
And scream Appeal TV writer Rain Jokinen did, at the TV as she watched the premiere last night. (Rain wasn’t the only one sniping: SFist’s liveblog of the show might have been the best thing on the internet yesterday.)
Rain says “I do know that the ONLY reason I will keep watching is because it’s filmed here. There is absolutely nothing else compelling about the show. Nothing. The characters are awful, and the TRAUMA! I’ve seen time and time again on other medical shows. (Enough with the tracheotomies!)”
But don’t take SFist’s, Rain’s, or Tim’s words for it! We’ve embedded the show above for your viewing pleasure, check it out and tell us what you think.
