A 44-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at San Francisco International Airport after being wanted by San Jose police for the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

Adnan Raymond Romiah was arrested at the airport after he arrived on a flight from Japan, Customs and Border Protection officials said today.

San Jose police had a warrant for Romiah’s arrest for allegedly engaging in lewd and lascivious acts by force with a child under 14 years old.

“CBP works closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to ensure that fugitives are intercepted and processed at the border,” Richard Vigna, director of field operations for the agency’s San Francisco office, said in a statement.

“This arrest demonstrates the diligent work that CBP officers continue to display at ports of entry to keep the public safe,” Vigna said.
