San Francisco police arrested five men overnight who allegedly drove around the city in a sport utility vehicle on a baseball bat-wielding robbery spree.

Julio Cruz, 32, Osmary Umanzor, 28, Allen Umanzor, 28, Ramos Humberto, 25, and Kevin Aguilar, 18, all of San Francisco, are suspected in four robberies in a four-hour span between 10 p.m. and about 2:15 a.m., according to police.

Robberies took place at Polk and Union streets, Fourth and Stillman streets, Pacific Avenue and Montgomery Street, and Van Ness Avenue and Union Street.

The men were finally detained in their 1999 Isuzu Rodeo in the 2100 block of Lombard Street at about 2:25 a.m., police said.

All the five victims were men, according to police. One was punched and kicked, two others were hit with either a baseball bat or a collapsible baton, and another was knocked to the ground. The victims were seriously injured.

Police said they were able to retrieve the victims’ belongings, which were either on the suspects or at their home in the 4600 block of Third Street.

All five men, who police believe may be responsible for at least two other similar robberies in recent days, were charged with robbery, assault and receiving stolen property, and remained in custody today.
