Citizens of the Bay Area, please mark your calendars for the requisite chocolate festival. The Appeal doesn’t care if you’ve been a thousand times (which, mathematically is impossible for a festival in its 14th year). We don’t care if you think it’s overrated. It’s chocolate. And you’re going to like it, dammit.

- If you want you or your child wants to become insta-diabetic, sign up for the ice cream sundae eating contest. If the Ghirardelli chocolate sauce isn’t enough for you, the winner takes home a giant basket of chocolate.

What: A weekend choco-celebration benefiting Project Open Hand
When: September 12 and 13, 12 – 5 p.m.
Where: Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco
Cost: Tickets are $20 (includes 15 tastings). Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.GhirardelliSQ.com or the day of the event at Ghirardelli Square and on Beach Street.
