More than 2,800 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers were without power for about an hour tonight in and around San Francisco’s Castro District, a utility spokesman said.

PG&E spokesman Andrew Souvall said the outage happened at about 7:50 p.m. when a Mylar balloon hit electric wires. The incident caused a manhole cover to dislodge at Market Street and Duboce Avenue, he said.

All customers had power restored by about 9 p.m.

Souvall said PG&E crews would remain in the area overnight making repairs.
