For those stuck in the ’90s, Outside Lands salutes you. Wholeheartedly. With headliners like Tenacious D, Pearl Jam, Incubus, and Dave Matthews Band, you can relive the decade of hair scrunchies and platform shoes. Not everyone is thrilled. That said, we’re pros, and will be covering the whole weekend, so please do check back early and often.

To be fair, there are some decent acts involved. We recommend checking out:

Perhaps it is telling that we’re more excited about the food offerings at Outside Lands. The lineup in the culinary arts department is sure to please. Get oysters from Hog Island, ice cream from It’s-It and Three Twins, hot dogs from Let’s Be Frank, Indian food from DOSA, meats from The Fatted Calf, crepes from Ti-Couz, and chocolates from Charles Chocolates. If only this food were free–then your ticket would really be worth the price. And, hey, if your bartender has a familiar face, that’s our own Ramona Emerson. Tip her generously!

If you live around Golden Gate Park or suddenly decide to travel in that direction, be sure to check out Akit’s survival guide. The festival will impact many MUNI lines, so plan your transportation to and from the festival carefully. Coincidentally, San Francisco Bike Coalition will provide free valet bike parking.
