Nihonmachi Street Fair
On Saturday and Sunday, the 36th annual Nihonmachi Street Fair will take place in and around Japantown from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m., Saturday to 8 p.m., Sunday.
Post Street from Laguna Street to Fillmore Street
Webster Street from Geary Boulevard to Sutter Street
Intersection of Webster Street and Post Street

No Muni service will be re-routed.

Pistahan Parade
The Pistahan Parade will be held Saturday from Market Street at Beale Street to Yerba Buena Gardens.

At 10 a.m., the opening ceremony will take place on Beale Street between Market and Mission streets. Beale Street between Market Street and Folsom Street will close at 8 a.m. for the ceremony and parade preparations.

The parade will follow the ceremony, starting at Beale Street and Market Street, proceed west on Market Street to 4th Street, south to Folsom Street, north on 3rd Street, and into Yerba Buena Gardens, where the Pistahan Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Cross traffic will be allowed between parade units on an intermittent basis.

Soccer Doubleheader
On Saturday, August 8 two professional soccer matches will be held at Candlestick Park back to back, starting at 5:30 p.m. The second match will begin at 8 p.m. and the event is expected to end at 10 p.m.

Motorists should expect delays on all bridges and freeways leading into San Francisco for at least two hours before the start of the first match and for at least two hours after the end of the event. Fans attending the matches are encouraged to take public transportation.

Muni offers several ways to get to Candlestick Park from throughout San Francisco. A Muni Express route and two shuttles will be available.

The Muni Express route is Special Event Fare Service with an adult fare of $10 roundtrip and a youth/senior/disabled fare of $7 roundtrip. The Special Event fare with a Muni or CityPass is $5.

The Candlestick Shuttles are regular fare service, $2 adult cash fare per trip and $.75 for youth/senior/disabled cash fare per trip. All Muni customers who pay cash fare should be sure to ask for a transfer as proof of payment. Please go to www.sfmta.com for fare details.

For service to and from the matches, T Third customers should transfer at the Gilman/Paul station to the 87 Candlestick Shuttle, which will operate directly from the station to Candlestick and return at the end of the event.

Sunday Streets

The fifth of six 2009 Sunday Streets events will be held this Sunday, August 9 in Golden Gate Park and along Great Highway. This event covers a route between JFK Drive at Transverse Drive and Great Highway at Sloat Boulevard. The route will be available for recreational activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Street closures and access are detailed here.

The headquarters for the event will be located at Lincoln Way and Great Highway, where participants can get details about activities along the event route as well as free bike rentals. Additional information and free bike rentals will be available at Great Highway and Taraval Street.
