The Democrats brought their town hall politicking to San Francisco on Friday. It will please readers to learn that attending San Franciscans did not behave whatsoever in a fashion befitting tabloid media coverage. Democratic Representative Jackie Speier listened intently, San Franciscans aired their grievances, and the whole event strayed from headline coverage.

But in San Francisco, whenever one group fails to make a scene you can be sure that another will compensate for the lost opportunity. So on Sunday, as Speier took her town-hall down the Peninsula, protesters brought some anti-Pelosi zaniness to the Golden Gate Bridge. A group called “Code Pink” held a mock town hall to protest Pelosi’s lack of town-hall meetings during the August recess. You can’t please all the people all the time.
