In the single most newsworthy opinion submitted to the Chronicle in recent memory, a tipster tells of a family of German tourists treated rudely by both a MUNI driver and car rental clerk.

I’ll give the author credit concerning the rental clerk. Car rental companies have a responsibility to be cordial, not only for the benefit of their company, but as ambassadors to our city. But expecting the same from a MUNI driver! If it were a cable car driver I could understand, but its not exactly the responsibility of an overstretched, overworked 22 operator to explain to tourists that a city bus is not the same as a Greyhound. Plus, I doubt even the buses in the forward thinking, tourist friendly nation of Germany are eager to change a ten.
