scooby_doo_2.jpgLast week the Chronicle reported a delicious “who done it” regarding the missing trees near the Boys and Girls Club on Page Street.

Blame fell first upon PG&E, but it turned out the real arboreal villain was Old Man Withers, err, I mean the Boys and Girls Club itself. The organization was quoted by the Chronicle as saying that the trees’ exposed roots were causing children to fall and that they weren’t actually “required to post sidewalk notices that notified resident’s of the tree’s removal.”

As it turns out that is exactly what they are required to do. The Chronicle reports, “not only are notices required, but property owners must request permission from the San Francisco Department of Public Works before taking out trees.”

And they would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids.
