July 30, 2009 5:20 PM: The death of a 56-year-old man whose body was found in an apartment in San Francisco’s Castro District earlier this week has been ruled a homicide, a police sergeant said today.

Authorities responded to an anonymous report of a murder and located Robert Christopher inside the apartment at 98 Castro St. around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said. Christopher was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams said he could not release the cause of death, but said the San Francisco medical examiner has deemed it a homicide.

Christopher is the 30th homicide victim in the city this year. At this time last year there were 58 homicides reported in San Francisco, according to Williams.

He said no suspects have been arrested in connection with Christopher’s death.
