As our friends Eater SF and SFist noted, PETA demonstrated in front of the McDonald’s at 600 Van Ness this afternoon.

Their intention (quoted from BCN) “to protest the alleged abuse of chickens in slaughterhouses that supply the restaurant chain with its poultry products…The campaign is called ‘McDonald’s Scalds Chicks to Death.'”

PETA’s taken a lot of hits over what some see as a sexist approach to the issue of animal abuse, and it can be argued that bikini-clad women (oh, sorry, “chicks”) in a tank of what looks like BBQ sauce (yum) might fall under that heading.

Also, was it warm enough to do this today? Maybe a little scalding would have been a nice change.
