handcuffs.JPGA 51-year-old San Mateo man was arrested early Monday for allegedly burglarizing a home design studio in San Francisco, police said.

John Lewis Nelson was arrested for the burglary, which was reported at about 2:40 a.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Sacramento Street, police said.

Neighbors heard the sound of glass breaking and called 911, and police responded to find broken glass from the door of the business as well as from an interior glass door and window, according to police.

Investigators found a brick in the building that apparently had been used to smash the glass, and interviewed witnesses who had seen someone leaving the area with stolen property, police said.

Police detained Nelson, who matched the description given of the suspect, in a driveway in the 3000 block of California Street. Nelson has since been linked to several other commercial burglaries, police said.

Lewis was booked for burglary, possession of stolen property, and parole violation.
