Apparently, some folks came across this 2008 article on the CA Supreme Court’s decision to allow same-sex marriage in this state, and, in the words of another Appeal writer:

Twitter is EXPLODING right now about this. A few people saw the article from a year ago, got confused, and tweeted it. For a few minutes it didn’t get much attention, then local semi-celeb bonnie burton, with 3000 followers, RTed the link and now the internet is a pineapple upside down cake.

In Bonnie’s defense, she corrected herself very quickly, and directed her followers towards more sources for Prop 8 news.

The cyberspace, she is filled with lies and misperceptions. Be careful out there, folks.
