Technically, you’re allowed to enter the Presidio whenever you like — or at least, most of it — but how are you going to get there? Bus? HA. It’s crazy, but that big beautiful public park is both the prettiest place in the city and also the worst-served by transit. What’s the deal?
The deal, as it happens, will be revealed tonight. The Trustees have been planning a bunch of expensive upgrades to the Main Post area, and that includes changes to transit; tonight, they’ll be sharing their thoughts at a special transportation workshop. If you’ve ever wondered why it’s so freaking impossible to just go look at some trees, now’s your chance to learn more and then complain to the right people.
The meeting happens tonight at 6:30pm, at the Golden Gate Club, 135 Fisher Loop. Thinking of taking Muni? The Golden Gate Club is a 15 minute walk from the closest stop on the 43, and a 30 minute walk from the 33. And good luck finding your way back in the dark.
