We’ve just been informed that power has been restored to Oakland Airport after an outage that shut down operations this afternoon.

Airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes said Terminal 1, which handles domestic and international flights for all airlines except Southwest, was out of power for about 20 minutes.

Security screening and boarding were at a standstill “Essentially, things just came to a stop until we were able to investigate the situation and get it resolved,” Barnes said. The cause of the outage is under investigation, she said. In an interesting note, KGO reports that the airport’s backup generators failed to kick in.
