Muni’s “Miscellaneous Rail Improvement Project” (which sounds like the junk drawer of track repair) is ready to strut its stuff in public. Shut up, it sounds exciting! (PDF) Muni’s release on the topic says this project “represents the next step in Muni infrastructure improvement.” And, in the future, all restaurants will be Taco Bell!

Seriously, this project is intended to start some much-needed maintenance on our light rail tracks. For starters: Judah at La Playa, and Judan and Taraval at 19th Avenue, and Sunset Boulevard. More from the release:

In addition to replacing and repairing aging Muni streetcar tracks and track components, this work will also include enhancements to the surrounding area such as street repaving and restriping, sidewalk improvements and upgraded water lines.
