Shuffling lazily (very lazily, the SFIAAFF party last night kind of did us in) through our RSS, we came upon the most awesome photo we’ve seen all week (and we’re not the only ones). Taken by plug1 of What I’m Seeing fame, his blog post on the picture is distressingly without context. We had to know more. What the hell is going on in this picture?

So we emailed him to get the scoop. Apparently, it was lunchtime, yesterday, and plug1 and a companion were heading to the (scary noise!) Musee Mechanique, as he

saw a baker from Boudin walking a sourdough baguette in the shape of a crocodile across Taylor. People were stopping in their tracks to check this thing out!! My friend went in for a close-up shot, but I decided to stay across the street and get a more candid shot. I eventually asked the baker wtf was up with the croc and he said it weighed about 40 lbs and he likes to take it for a walk each day before the busy lunch hour.

Plug1 was able to make out the name of the baker, one Ramon Padilla, whom he believes to be the brother of Boudin master baker Fernando Padilla.
