If you’re trying to get to the AMC 1000 from the Mission tonight, you might be better off going to the Westfield instead — all the 49 Van Ness buses are dead in the water and traffic is a mess.  We ended up bumming a ride home with friends, and it was kind of creepy seeing all the dead buses every two blocks just sitting there abandoned on the street, completely empty.  It was like the Rapture, if the only people holy enough to be saved by the Lord were Mission dwellers who hang out in Ghirardelli Square.  (Maybe they were  trying to shop at the now-closed Steve and Barry’s.)

Anyways, so what’s up?  A quick twitter search reveals that the overhead power line feeding the 47 went down.  I’m guessing probably around Hayes and Van Ness, since there were a mess of swirling yellow lights and traffic jams galore right around there.
